Open your eyes, widen your mind. In today’s era, technology is already part of our life. We use it in daily basis, in our work, entertainment, and even household chores. And with the use of technology, there will be also the need to expose or give our personal data. This includes, but not limited to, filling up forms for the warranty of the appliances we bought, or when we join a raffle. Have you ever wonder what will happen to the information after the raffle? Have you ever wonder why you receive text messages or mail from a random sender? Why did they know your contact details?

In the world of Information and Technology, we are also called as “Data subject.” We who offers our personal information or data for free simply because it is needed for our transaction, like in the example earlier, of course they need our name, address, contact details, etc., in order for us to join the raffle. We must be cautious in giving data, we won’t know how they use and store this data. What if their database will be exposed? Since you give your data to them, your data also will be expose. Then after, guess what will happen to your data. It will become a currency, well not literally but it will be sell or traded especially in the dark web and in most cases, it will be used to mimic you in the internet and can be used to other illegal plans they have. Yeah I know it is quite heavy but remember, it is surely possible.

Let’s say you haven’t experience or heard about this kind of scenario, well, let’s go to the most basic instances. Every experience or heard about spams or scams that are sent to you thru your email or contact number? I doubt it is still a no. How they get this contact details of yours? Simple, they bought it from the dark web. And so, next time you provide your information, always have a doubt on how it will be manage or use, and as much as possible, minimize the information that you will provide to them.
